3MT Competition
The 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition gives MTech and PhD researchers the opportunity to communicate the significance of their work to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes — sharpening communication skills, encouraging interdisciplinary engagement, and showcasing innovative research from across the microwave community.
Eligibility
- Open to MTech and PhD students at recognized universities and institutions.
- Research must relate to Microwave Engineering · RF and Communication Systems · Antennas and Propagation · Radar Systems · Aerospace and Defence Electronics · Semiconductor Technologies · Signal Processing and AI for RF/Microwave · Emerging Deep-Tech Areas.
- Participants must submit an abstract (Google Form link to be shared) along with proof of affiliation.
Competition Format
- 250-word research abstract
- Single presentation slide
- Short biography (100 words)
- Evaluated on novelty, impact, and clarity
- Top participants shortlisted for the final round
- 3-minute presentation or less
- One static slide only
- No animations, videos, or props
- Mixed audience: academia, industry, and students
Rules
- Maximum presentation time: 3 minutes (exceeding this means disqualification).
- One static slide allowed.
- Language: English.
- Presentation must cover: Research problem · Methodology · Key findings · Societal/industrial relevance.

The IEEE Young Professionals (YP) Session at IMWLC 2026 is designed to bridge the gap between academic research, industry needs, and professional development. The program fosters networking, mentorship, innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic-industry collaboration through keynote talks and interactive discussions.
